Join business and community leaders, along with our elected officials in a Forum to help understand and develop our regional workforce.  

 

We are in the midst of a very dynamic and transformational economy.  New processes and skill demands are being created everyday—this at a time when we are experiencing full employment.  What are some of the ways we can meet the workforce challenges in our region?

Keynote Speakers

 

 

 

Ron Wirtz

Regional Outreach Director, Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis

 

Ron’s primary responsibilities involve tracking current business conditions, with a focus on employment and wages, along with sector-tracking in construction, real estate, consumer spending and tourism. In this role, Ron networks with local businesses in a six-state region, both in person and via various communication channels, and gathers other traditional and nontraditional sources of information to assess current business activity.

 

 

Ryan Allen

Associate Professor, University of Minnesota, Humphrey School of Public Affairs

 

Ryan Allen is an associate professor of community and economic development at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota, where he has taught and conducted research on urban planning, housing markets, neighborhood change, and immigrant communities since 2007. Appointed director of the Masters in Urban and Regional Planning program at the Humphrey School in 2015, Allen has conducted recent research on changes in the racial distribution of housing cost  burden in the U.S., factors associated with the successful resolution of property tax delinquency and practices around the engagement of immigrants in urban planning processes. His most recent research with Minnesota Extension focuses on migration trends in Greater Minnesota. Allen holds a PhD and Masters in City Planning from MIT, and a BA in Economics from the College of William and Mary.
